List Building

List building is a must have daily routine that you need to be doing in your business.  Without a list you will surely die over time.  There are numerous ways to develop a list and it can be done online as well as offline.

You must choose how you wll do it or maybe you want to do both.  It's crazy I know but you need to be pretty picky about who goes on your list.  There are a lot of people out there that use non-verafiable emails and those my friend just take up space.

OFFLINE

So, always have a way to confirm the email at minimum.  If they have a phone number verify that as well.  Look don't pester them just do it one time and make sure you have a qualified them to be on your list.

ONLINE

Online you do not have much choice but to do it all online.  Most of the time they might give you a valid email because they can unsubscribe but usually there will be some that give a bad number.  I understand that for some shady things but when the person has taken the time to develop a legitimate site with all his stuff on there why not give him your stuff.

WHAT DO YOU DO EACH DAY

Well that is a good question.  If your  working this offline then you have a couple of options.  You can use drop boxes where someone fills out a form for more informaton and drops it in a box.  These can be placed with permission of the retail outlet owner around your local area.  You can use flyers that they go to a website (your landing page) and they give up their info there for whatever it is your giving away or selling.

You could as one guy was sharing with me a while back use road signs.  You know those little 18"x18" corrugated signs on a stick.  I think they can be expensive, unprofessional if not done correctly.  And please if you do something like this do it legally.  In most places you cannot just go a nail a sign to a power pole or on the side of someones building.  Use that old noggin that the Lord put on your shoulders.

I think the web is the place to do this.  You have the opportunity to get your stuff out in front of millions of people.  Sure it takes time but it is worth it.  You may have to learn more techy stuff but again it will be worth it.

One thing that most people forget about list building is that they people they meet in stores, airports, coffee shops, diners, (you get the point) to write down their info.  Ask them if it is okay if you send them some information about what you do from home or even your brick and motar business.  These are honest to goodness hot prospects.

So, if you do use the internet how do you do it?  Well if your not a coder and know how to set up a script, form, and a way to respond to those that give you their info then you will have to use a service like getresponse, aweber, mailchimp, trafficwave or some kind of marketing system that provides landing pages that include all this type of stuff.

Be sure that you use a service that makes the person double optin to your list.  This is extremely important that you stay compliant with all the laws that are on the internet and I do not know where to start on all that stuff.

You do need a privacy statement for sure.  You can google what legal forms you actually have to have to have a compliant website.  Its easy to find and most of the time you can use a template where the blanks are filled in when you create it.  And most of the time it is free.

Be nice to your list.  Make sure that you send them emails. but not 1 a day.  Spread it out, let them digest what your sharing with them and eventually they will come to trust you and then buy from you.

Its a lot I know but this is what I know and I do not know it all.  I am far from it and it changes every day.  You need to stay on top of this topic "list building" if you want to build a big relaibe and responsive list.  One thing I know is that you can do it.  But please go out on the net and see what other poeple say.  Never just take one mans word for it always validate it with someone else at least three or four times.
